Things here in Rainier are going great! This week started off kind of slow, but we have continued to grow and see the changes that are happening here in our area, as we go forward with faith to share the gospel with everyone, and invite them to come unto Christ. Daylight savings has really made things here a lot easier, now that it is bright and sunny outside (most of the time) when we knock doors from 5-7 pm. No more reflective belts or flashlights needed until next winter! (Yay! )
This last week, we were able to hear from Elder Manes, Elder Nelson, and Elder Bussy (two quorum of the 70 and an area 70). They came to speak with us, and Elder Manes gave a really good trainining lesson on missionary work, faith, and setting goals in our life. There is so much joy that can come from setting goals in our lives, because it allows us to see clearly where it is we want to go and then work towards that goal.
Elder Manes said that when he was a young boy, he set the goal of shooting 50 free throws in a row before his mom called him to go inside. He said that he never quite reached his goal of 50, but more often than not, he was able to make it to the 40's, sometime the 30's, or more often than not, the 20's, but because he had the goal, he had something to reach for and he improved overall in his free throw abilities. We can’t be afraid to set a goal, even if we know we will never reach it. He also talked about how we need to have faith to set goals. We all have a goal to return to live with our father in heaven, and we go forward with faith - even though we know that we will not be perfect in this life, reaching for that goal of perfection, and eternal life with God in heaven allows us to stretch, grow, and become the best version of ourselves.
I was asked to direct the music for the meeting when they general authorities came, and the entire mission was there- so that was a really cool opportunity.
We lost our phone last week while we were walking along a highway in the dark, knocking doors... my understanding of darkness has taken on a whole new meaning after moving to Washington......no one here believes in streetlights, and just like my area in Tenino, we do not have any Streetlights here.......( except for a flashing yellow light) but we said a prayer, and amazingly, we found the phone...!
We have a baptism scheduled for Pie Day (3.14.15) this week, hopefully if everything goes as planned, Bella can be baptized! She is 16, and she has been coming to church for a few months now! She says the church has made her really happy, and she can’t wait to be baptized! We need to get permission from her mom first though!
We have 3 other investigators on date for baptism in the near future as well, and our GOAL is Missionaries is to Baptized those who are seeking for truth.
There are so many people out there who have simply lost their way, and have wandered, because they know not where to find it. As members of Christ's church, we can show them the way to baptism, which is the gateway to eternal life.
Love the Lord, and serve him with all your heart, might, mind, and strength. Embark on a journey. Don't be Afraid - the lord will be with you!
