It has been another amazing week her in the WA-TAC!
This week Sister Henderson and I were able to have 2 convert baptisms for our ward, and 1 Child of record baptism; including our investigator Jerry Garrick. We were also able to baptize an 8 year old girl named Brittany Felton, as a convert to the church. Brittany was the foster child of the Felton Family in our ward, and her biological parents are Jehovah's Witness- she was legally adopted on Tuesday ( then being allowed to be baptized!). Normally, it is not considered a convert baptism unless the child is 9, but6 because she is adopted, she is considered a convert even though she has been attending church with her foster family for the last 4 years. Brittany literally could not be baptized until that adoption went through, and the Felton's have been trying for years to adopt the children that they are fostering, and now they finally have! what a blessing!
Sister Henderson and I were able to be present when Jerry had his baptismal interview - it was during a huge storm that swept the area, and the power had gone out on the entire street! So we had the interview in the dark, only by the light of my flashlight, which was a unique experience - it was one of the Zone Leaders and the District Leader who did the interview, and it went really well! ( the elders were on exchanges!)
Sister Henderson is a wonderful singer, and she and I were asked by President and Sister Blatter to sing a Song at the Upcoming Christmas Party for our mission! we will also be singing the same song in Sacrament Meeting on the 23rd, and we have solo parts in the 'Silent Night' arrangement that the relief society will be singing in sacrament meeting as well!
There are cute lights everywhere that the town has put up for Christmas, and I loved being able to participate in the town Christmas party at the local Church. There is so much love and joy that cam come from celebrating Christ during this holiday season, no matter what denomination or faith we belong to; together as children of a loving heavenly father, and a belief centered on Jesus Christ as our savior, and the redeemer of the world, we can remember what Christmas is truly all about.
One of the elders in my mission recently told me that there is a video on You-Tube of the WA-TAC mission singing amazing grace. this is our missions song that we sing together, and it is absolutely beautiful. Apparently the video that was posted (of us singing at our most recent transfer mtng, which jjust happened to be the ENTIRE mission!!) has gone viral and has had quite a few views.... even if it hasent gone viral, I would encourage you all to watch it, just to feel a little bit of the spirit that we can share with the rest of the world here in the WA-TAC.
"My chains are gone,
I've been set free,
My God my Savior
has ransomed me."
I wish you all a fantastic week, and hope that we all might remember the amazing love and grace that our savior has and coutinues to share with all during this holiday season.
Best Wishes,
Sister Megan Chapple
